UMMI'S STORY

IT  ALL STARTED WITH A SIMPLE QUOTATION...

" GOD couldn't be everywhere so he created

MOTHERS!"

My walk through life like most, have been filled ups and downs, and at each turn women of all walks stepped in a mother role for my family and I. Whether it be a laugh, a shoulder to cry on, or food in our bellies, these women were always there. But besides my own mother, one other mother mother figure was an inspiration for the start of Ummi's Ummah. Her name is Yaseem Ali Bilal but everyone calls her "Ummi". I met her in Georgia where we started as friends because of our boys (Christian and Samir) but quickly became family. With an open door and single phase " Ummi's got you!" I knew we were safe and loved. Looking back at my time with her, I learned that a community does not move without the matriarchal touch. Today that touch is needed more than ever. So I decided, instead of waiting on outsiders to repair the brokenness of my community, I would gather my own army of Ummis and stand up for our community!

"UMMI'S UMMAH GOT YOU"

Our Mission

Our Mission

Ummi's Ummah is a women's non-profit organization that was formed to put mothers of the community back as the matriarchs and glue that holds it together. We strive to INFORM, ENGAGE, MOBLIZE, AND RECONNECT with each other to overcome various obstacles that continue to hold back the successful progression of our communities. We will teach each other how to support and uplift our children, men, and elders as we take on the responsibility of claiming our neighborhoods "One mother at a time!"
