Meet Ummi's Ummah

Nadezhda is from Spencer, NC. She is the mother of 2 boys and has a host of nieces and nephews. She has always has been active in her community as a dance teacher and mentor.

"As Black women, we’re always given these seemingly devastating experiences—experiences that could absolutely break us. But what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly. What we do as Black women is take the worst situations and create from that point."

Somia is born and raised in Bull City. She is a wife and a mother of one. Somia is the owner of BullCity Eats, LLC. She currently works as a Tax Pro with H&R Block. Somia speaks Spanish and lived in Peru for 6 months, while learning abroad. Somia loves dancing and learning different recipes. Somia would describe herself as a "Jack of all trades and a master of none, accept dance." 

Zaakirah "LetherZ" comes to us from Columbus, Ga. A spoken word artist who has a passion for life, love, and family. She has worked in group homes for the youth and is currently working with the homeless in a local shelter.

Priscilla is from Fayetville,NC. She is the mother of 6 and a proud grandmother of 4. She is very active in her community as an organizer, public speaker, and advocate for disabled children and adults.
